:( I am SO excited that a couple of members of this wonderful forum have provided me an opportunity to raise two of my favorite varieties of bananas.
THAT SAID, I am beside myself as to the future of these two varieties that have been recently put in the ground after shipment.
All was good, arrived beautifully ...and then... Mother Nature. We have gotten so much rain since I planted them. And more rain... in a 2 day period, we got 8 .25" yesterday and day before and we are due more tomorrow. I have NOT supplemental watered AT ALL (bubblers are OFF)- so THAT is not an issue.
If any of you all, that may have an opinion, can look at the pics below... notice the narrowing and darker patches on the pstems?
The single Raja Puri has a leaf coming up the middle, but has just kind of stopped and is looking ... sad.
The 2 Dw. Namwahs... one shot a leaf up and, again, kind of just ..stopped. And the other... nada...
So, the narrowing and brown areas? The brown areas are creeping bigger... I'm thinking I should not get my hopes up as they are looking a bit soft under the dark brown... right?
Any ideas as to anything I might do to help?

I have seen leaves like those and once it gets enough sun a leaf will push right past that ugly stuff, since we're still in spring.. :^)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about them too much... It will dry out quickly enough...

So, should I not cut back the dead brown area(s) up top?
I saw a few TEENY black specks walking around on the plants... call for any concern with THEM?

I wouldn't cut any of it... As for the "Teeny Black Specks", get a spray bottle, fill it with water (maybe a little dish soap), and spray them away...

NOT!! (that is, Not rot!) ...yeah!!! :woohoonaner:
Followed y'alls advise:
1. don't worry
2. spray bottle w/ tad dish soap.
3. follow husband's advise, that is; don't worry
4. wait it out
5 don't worry.

As you can see, they're looking great... now just to wait until next summer for bananas.
(right? ... next summer would be the soonest I'll see a flower?)

Looking good!!!
With compost and/or fertilizer they will grow in no time for you.
Keep up the good work and yes, possibly in a year or so they might fruit for you ( if your winter is mild enough).

Forgot to ask: is that a horse barn in the background?
Ummm: looks like you might have unlimited access to great fertilizer...

Under optimal circumstances you could see one this fall.. :^)

Yes, that's a horse barn in the background. We have 5 fertilizer producers -2 are for sale :). The horses prefer to be out on pasture vs. being stalled (healthier for them that way too)....
BUT, we have a lean-to in the pasture where they hang out during different periods of weather and there's PLENTY of the stuff in there ...anywhere from fresh to broken down and dusty.
Our garden loves the stuff and that's what these bananas are sitting in (mixed w/ soil) now.

Nice. Now it does not surprise me that your bananas look that good :)
My horse and my chickens are some very good fertilizer producers. ;)
