I have a Basjoo that is making lots of pups. I think one of them might be a water sucker, can you keep and grow water suckers, and if so, will they eventually grow normal, and make their own sword pups?

I've been reading several of the sucker-debate threads and I have to be honest with you; I don't think I've ever had a sword sucker. That being said, I went from 1 each of 2 species to having nearly a dozen of each. All from "water suckers". (and the most proficient was the Basjoo!)

I have a horror of killing any plant trying to grow. (I've gone to great lengths to save sickly tomato or pepper or whatever seedlings because they're making an effort and plucking them out hurts my soul. ) So I'm on the side of--if you have the space to let it keep going, do it. If not, try to find it a home where it might be appreciated. Worst case put it in the compost bin so your other plants benefit. From what I've read here a water sucker is just a lesser child of the mother but will, if properly cared for, potentially grow normally (Someone tell me I'm wrong now so I don't waste efforts should I ever have one.)

Water suckers will not grow as fast or big as sword ones, but they will make their own next generation of sword suckers which will be fine.

None of my basjoos have sword suckers. This seems to be commonplace. Has anyone ever seen a sword sucker on Musa basjoo?
