It was sold as a dwarf Cavendish but I'm pretty sure it's not.

I think you are absolutely right in your assumption.. and its not even a Musa.. :^)

I don't think it's a musa either. I think it may be an Ensete of some kind. I've had it for 2 years now, always in the pot, in the last winter in the greenhouse it's started to leaf out more then before. I'm looking to repot or plant for the summer, haven't decided.

Maybe an Ensete Tandarra Red?

I think that it's ensete ventricosum "maurelli".

If it is, it's an extremely poor performer. I'll post my other Maurelli that I just put back in the ground later to show the difference in growth.

Here is my Ensete Maurelli that's seen one summer in the ground and one winter in the greenhouse compared to the first one I posted that has seen 2 summers in the pot and 2 summers in the greenhouse.

My Maurelli never grew much in a pot. I put it in the ground and it grew about 7 feet, lol.
