I am very new to growing bananas and new to this site!! Have been growing Cavendish and Musa Basjoo. Live in Maryland and my hubby and I winter the bananas over in the ground with mulch, etc. Have been growing these two types for about four years. Have not seen a bloom as of today. Will either of these types of bananas produce a bloom? Not worried about eating bananas!! Just want to see if we can get them to bloom. Maybe our growing season is not long enough? Maybe we have the wrong type of bananas? Any help in answering these questions would be very helpful. Thank You.

I think anyone that answers this might be getting in deep.. Its all relative.. The best chance of you getting a flower is probably growing a Veinte Cohol in pot, or raja puri since they fruit at similar height. They can be indoors, can be hauled out and planted in the ground and re-potted come fall.. Veinte Cohol has no cold tolerance.. We have a cool stream coming back in that's going to get temps in the high 40's so mine (veinte cohol) isn't going into the ground until next weekend.. :^)

Thank You for your answer "I'm a Nannerhead". I figured that I might have some bananas that may not bloom. I will see if I can find some of the suggested plants. We do enjoy the beautiful greenery though!
