While on vacation in Costa Rica I found that bananas that I received from a tree helped my health symptoms that I am experiencing within two days.

Now I am in NY and have tried many different name brands and none of them seem to be helping.

I met a Chiquita banana representative and he told me that all bananas that are shipped to the USA are put in refrigerators on the ships which may cause the bananas to lose nutrition, etc.

I am willing to go almost anywhere in the world to get a sufficient source of bananas straight from a tree, whether it be tree ripened (which seems like impossible) or non-refrigerated. I want to be in a first world country but it seems like that's not possible either.

Thanks for any advice and replies

Hey thanks for the reply, the thing is I eat about 30-40 bananas a day and wanted a source that I could use for about a month. Do you think or know if it would be possible through one of the members?

I couldn't see eating that many Cavendishes in any day ever.. Now Manzano's or PK's is another story.. Good Luck in your quest.. I don't think its just the refrigeration, it's cause they pick them early (therefore you get less), and gas them.. :^)

I can ship bananas, it is not cheap though. Shipping alone is around $40 for a 40lbs box The bananas in that box are going to run $30. Your other option to try would be going to an asian grocer and checking for Thai bananas. Those are picked full and not gassed. They are kept cool, but not as long as grocery store bananas.

Mate of you want to be on this diet for only a month and are happy relocating then go to Australia. I get local tree ripened bananas each week from the farmers market in Newcastle. If you go anywhere North of Newcastle on the east coast of Australia you should have no problem getting local tree ripened bananas. Not to mention that most of the towns up the coast are holiday destinations with great beaches.
