Last year, I uncovered my in-ground Basjoos, and put the potted ones outside on April 5. This year, we had snow on the 16th.

I am so sorry this has been such a horrible winter up north. I lived there most of my life so really do understand how frustrated you are. The Great Lakes have major ice still; I'm not a scientist but I'm thinking that has something to do with the situation or that why they are still vastly covered is part of the reason. Doesn't matter--spring is very, very late.

Sadly, IME, a very late spring often means you jump right into summer which isn't pleasant especially since, for some darned reason, it's a long, dry, hot summer. Fewer bugs, yes but plants don't grow very well.
Please, don't make this a global warning debate--it just seems to happen and did sometimes for at least 55 years while I lived up there. Hoping you get a bit of spring very soon!

Well, the temperature is moderating slightly, but we're still not quite there. The trouble now, at least for the basjoos, is that the trees haven't leafed out very much, and there's hardly any shade, so they'll get burned.
