Dang, my Home-depot and Lowes haven't started selling bananas yet, I'm sure you're down south? My guess is some kind of balbisiana? BB/BBB?
Ornamental usually means not edible

Yeah broken leaves might slow it but new ones will grow from center.

Check out EZ's post here: home depot/lowes supplier (http://www.bananas.org/f2/did-i-make-dire-mistake-19876.html#post242221)

Well I'm no pro, hope it's a positive identification.
You should sign our Members Introduction (http://www.bananas.org/f11/) forum and stay around.

Just be aware you are the only one that has thanked me on this post.

A real pro will tell you an I.D. can't be accurate without a picture of the flower and/or fruit too.
I guessed musa lasiocarpa because lasiocarpa might turn down a buyer, your location, and information on height was determining.

I potted all mine in 10 inchers after I got em. Bigger the better though. After they get tall, wind will be an enemy.
