Today on our control pad numbers 2,7,8,9 and vent fan buttons stopped working?
I checked the ribbon wire and it's tight.
Unplugged micro several times.
Used a hair dryer to heat the buttons up.
None of these tricks worked.
Micro is only five years old. Any ideas? Thanks.

Do a search for local appliance parts place and see if they have the fan & control panel for your micro.. just don't bust or mess with the piece that goes around the interior.. That gets punctured its toast.. :^)

Time to hit the appliance stores with sales going on. I've replaced 4 of them in the last 30 years. Easy fix.
The current one has faulty buttons that have to be tweaked a certain way to work. When that fails I'll go shopping.

Found this on your local Craigslist (check for others on CL)

We just had a similar problem and instead of buying a new appliance, I called a licensed appliance repair I found on Craigslist and ended up paying $30 including the replacement part. Good luck to you.

Thanks guys, yeah I know of a parts place 20mins away. Was just looking up some of the tricks to reset stuff which work sometimes. Found one that shows how to remove the micro and plug a fitting back in that is known to come loose on the GE and it causes some buttons to stop working. The number buttons aren't a real issue. Not having the fan running is what we really care about.

I was going to recommend my standard answer of "Check out Youtube there are a lot of good videos on how to fix that" and judging from your post you already have.:08:
Good luck
