Hello all,

I have two Gros Michel banana plants that thrived for months. They are in a room with skylights and get a lot of indirect sunlight. I potted them using Sunshine Mix #4. However, for the past few weeks the leaves have been yellowing and dying. Please see the attached picture. I water only when the surface of the soil is dry. It has been about six months since I last repotted them, and I do not use fertilizer. One other thing to note, it has been a long, cold winter, and they have been at about 68 degrees Fahrenheit in 15-30% humidity.

Have I been over watering them? Do I need to put a humidifier close to them?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

END OF SEASON BLUES
Your plants look like my plants .
When a plant starts to look bad ....People tend to over water .....DO NOT Over WATER. Stick your finger in the pot ...you want it dry at least 2 inches below surface.....just my op from pics.

Pull it out of the pot and see how moist the soil is ....that will be a good gauge.

OUR challenge is low light ,cool temps, and slow growth .

The bottom leaves on a banana plant will always turn yellow at the end of their useful life.......this is normal......you ought to see mine...omg. Just cut them off.

The plant wants heat, strong light, and a happy place to grow(outside).
Your good ..... stay the course, soon You and I will be doing the happy dance.:08:

Thanks for the advice! The plant on the left will probably be fine, but the one on the right only has one healthy leaf. It is getting warmer and sunnier, so I hope it will make it!
