First Generation
http://www.bananas.org/f2/simple-effective-but-not-elegant-17605.html
Second Generation
Same as 1G except now the lid was utilized.
Fifth Generation
All the above was discarded and replaced with natural raw clay.
I'll finish later.
Purpose of this thread is to raise awareness of some techniques.
Chemical ferts can be used in 1G, but could become problematic in following generations.

Is the salt buildup that bad after 1st gen? I wanted to try just using mulch, compost and horse manure (N) combined with potash fert for my nanners. This will greatly cut down on salt content in the soil ( do potash ferts even contain salts?) and allow me to build a healthy soil community of microbes and fungi. I hope ofc...

Yes, Muriate of Potash is Potassium Chloride. You can use potassium nitrate, potassium sulfate, or sul-po-mag as less "salty" alternatives.

Nick thanks for this post! I have researched Potassium Chloride further and found it to be baaaddd stuff, check this recent article on it
Study challenges soil testing for potassium and the fertilizer value of potassium chloride :: Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences :: College of ACES, University of Illinois (http://nres.illinois.edu/news/study-challenges-soil-testing-potassium-and-fertilizer-value-potassium-chloride)
Apparently it compacts soil, inhibiting root growth. I also believe it inhibits microbial growth due to being a chloride, which has anti microbial properties.
