Hi,all I recently purchased a gold finger and would like another plant to see which out of the two make it to fruit in my climate.

Im very fond of fruity exotic flavors and wonder if there is a dwarf hardy naner that tastes different than an apple banana?

praying hands? cons: not for my zone?
red dwarf? Cons: longer to fruit, hardiness?
good ole namwa dwarf? cons: may be to close to my goldfinger in taste (apple)?

Dang, I don't know of anything that tastes like a cherimoya; folks would be snacking on sacks of dirt if it tasted like a cherimoya!
Not a banana, but how about White Sapote for a possible "pushing the zone limits" critter?

Yeah im dreaming! I can't grow most tropical that cannot stand the winds :(

Sapotes are really delicious. I can at least get those at the super market. Cherimoyas are hella expensive!

As for bananas, I'd love a red dwarf but I hear they take too long to fruit. I'm afraid I may never see fruit if the conditions are bad

For wind resistance go for a SH 3640. That one and Goldfinger taste great and nothing like the Namwah apple taste. Leaves will shred but the fruit will come. Just fert every month for your growing season.

Fix your profile to show location. And what is your soil is like?

Sandy and I think more alkaline. I'm looking for a hardy banana that is fruity but diff than gf variety. I'm wondering how nam compares to raja puri or Orinoco.
