I bought the seed for this plant in November of 2012. I had it in a flat and saw no signs of life which is normal for many banana seeds. I started doing the ziploc baggie method last fall and rescued what seed I could find from the flat, resoaked them, and placed them in baggies with bottom heat that shuts off for about an hour about 5 times a day.

Low and behold, today a sprout!!!

I had about 50 seeds when I started, and after a year and a half to get even one is a victory. I found that this banana has been given the name Musa Picasso. Also found out that the seedlings can be close to one parent or the other without a perfect cross. So will have to see what this little guy looks like when it starts putting out its leaves.

Very cool! Who is (was) selling those seeds? Should be a potentially cold-hardy hybrid.

Edit: Just saw that Plant Delights in NC is selling these this year. I'll try one!

Purchased on Ebay from seller id moofin0 out of the UK. With the quantity of the seed, the price, and the parents, I thought I would give it a shot and see if I can have a little luck with getting some to germinate.
