I live in Queensland on the sunshine coast. Is there anybody that know of a place where I can get some banana trees from, especially the more rare types? I cannot even find some of the more commercial varieties anywhere?:0519:

Welcome to bananas.org.
Have you tried "Blue Sky Backyard Bananas" in Queensland? Even though I am not in Australia, they have been extremely helpful in my search for a certain item.
As far as I know, there are restrictions for banana backyard growers in Australia, restrictions on varieties and number of plants. Places like the nursery mentioned above have some nice varieties for the backyard grower ( I am thinking of Pisang Goldfinger, Ducasse or Pisang Ceylon, they even claim to have the real Ice Cream). These varieties are not really rare but pretty tasty and not necessarily commercially grown.
