View Full Version : Help velutina seedlings wilting and dying
After great pains and patience my seeds germinated. But my joy didnt last long when they started dying one after another at around 3-4leaves at an height of around 2-6 inches. What am i doing wrong.? They are in little pots placed in a bigger banana pot at a sun window.
Please help i just have 2 seedings to hope for.

Looking at your zone your trying to grow in, I would get a fish tank & get a sheet of glass to put on top of. Put your plant in & mount a light bulb for heat on top to increase humidity & temp.
Now do you have a lot of (fungus) gnats flying around? If you do, you'll need to take care of that.. For us northern growers you will really have to back off of watering. It's a fine line of life or death... Gnats love to kill roots.
thanks for your suggestion , in fact i have been thinking the same, about the humidity level indoors.
yes we do have fungus gnats off and on!
I hope i can save them

It's very difficult to keep Musa seedlings alive in a typical indoor house environment. Overwatering, lack of heat and humidity, and lack of proper light all contribute to their quick and untimely death, LOL. The fish tank idea is a good one. You must create an artificial environment for them. They aren't like a typical indoor houseplant.
Oh dear! And i was dreaming of pink bananas.
I dont have a free fish tank at the moment but will try with a glass vase. Do you think it is safe to get them to normal room environment once a little bigger? i hv heard or rather seen pictures of them being kept in a normal living room.
Bigdog your avatar makes me envious!!
