I am looking for a maqueno plant. We had one in our backyard in Ecuador. Now we are in SW FL and I miss this amazing fruit. It made the best chifles and banana muffins.

Thanks,
What we had in Ecuador, did not have the pointed tips, but were instead very rounded on the ends. When I did a search (and looked at the pictures) these did not look like the maquenos we grew or purchased in the markets.
Isn't musa acuminata x balbisiana colla an ABB?

‘Maqueño’ is a member of the Maia Maoli-Popoulu subgroup, which is most prevalent in the Pacific. ‘Maqueño’ has been used as a female parent in the FHIA breeding program, but is unfortunately very susceptible to race 1. Recently, Panama disease began to move into the Pacific, a region that had been generally free of the disease. As Panama disease spreads in the Pacific it threatens ‘Maqueño’ and other cultivars in this important subgroup.
