hello, dear banana friends out there,
I just registered to share experience about growing banans.
My first bana-kid will be seeded soon, deriving from some root-sprouts in the neighbourhood, where a lot of them are growing.
I'm living in Malaysia, so climate is quite fine for bananas, but the soil in my yard is extremely wet, specifically now in the rain-season and quite poor of nutricians, according to the tropical environment.
I intend to start with an old tire filled with compost + rich soil, to have the youngster sitting above the gras-level, which is almost like above a swamp.
My current idea is to protect the bed against heavy rain by setting up a plastic-shelter with a hole in the middle, so the main plant is above the shelter, while just soil is sheltered against washing away by heavy rain.
Any comment and recomendation about feeding the youngster are warmly welcome.
I provide fotos of it, as soonm as I plunged it into its youngster-bed.
