Just finished half a hand of Gran Nain. Never ate this one before.
Found out they must be very ripe and then the astringency goes away. Was surprised to find the taste and texture very very good.
Damb good chopped up with Wheaties with sliced almonds and dried wild blueberries added.
I rate the GN one to two notches below the Goldfinger.

I grow GN (Grand Nain, Chiquita bananas) and when you grow it and allow the first hand to ripen 20% on the plant before you harvest the bunch it will taste better than grocery store GN. In my opinion they taste better then DC (Dwarf Cavendish) and at 6'-7' they are easy to manage. In my environment I've noticed that GN grows faster and can produce more fruit then DC, the only reason I grow DC is because my father gave me that plant as a gift many years ago.

Here in my nursery in Germany there are just around twenty Musa "Fen Ba Jiao" flowering. The last days I was harvesting every day fruits of that nice banana plant. The fruits taste delicious. They have orange flesh. I´m just making banana quark.
I have some Musa "Dhusre" with 5m high. I think that these will flower this year and I´m wondering how this fruits will taste.

I have been holding on to this photo since spring.
After many of you members post pics and give taste descriptions and just give great info on stuff I can't grow ....I went to a local store Jungle Jims, a giant regional destination for FOODIES and picked up some stuff. Here is a sample.
Thank you guys

How would you describe the flavor of Muraru Mshale? What is it most similar to? It's one that I've wanted to try ever since Gabe said he really liked them.
