I'm just starting and have quickly got swept up in the beautiful banana tree. Right now I'm using fish aquarium water, (no chemicals all natural plants) cfl's for some extra kick and I have some fish emulsion brewing with egg shells threw in for good measure. They are still small and one has gotten a new leaf to unroll during the night. They were delivered on the coldest day of the year with a couple of brown spots. They have perked up quite a bit. While they are this young should I use the citrus spikes before re-potting? I've searched high and low online and have not seen info on this for the small fry.

I assume you grow other plants; do you go overboard fertilizing them? Bananas, from this newbie's experience, are pretty determined to live; they need good dirt, adequate water, warmth and good light. Let your babies settle in before doing more. Nothing wrong with watering them as you are but don't go crazy trying to make them 6' tall overnight; it won't happen. If they seem unhappy, post pictures and the experts here will advise you well.

Good luck with your baby banana plants! I tend to over-do things too, it's so hard to sit back and let them do their thing! But they'll grow for you!

Thank you. Not normally do I go overboard but I think I could with the bananas.
