I just picked up one of these from Jon (pitangadiego) down in San Diego. Anyone else have experience with this one? Cold hardiness? Taste report? Wind resistance? I'm most likely going to be growing it in zone 9B.

They are supposed to taste very good, but I do not have any personal experience. I bought one for my friend last year from Jon, too, but it is a very slow grower and has only put out one pup so far. Not sure though if she babies her bananas the way I do ....

I believe Greenie (http://www.bananas.org/member-greenie.html) had a great experience with it.

It tastes great and produces very few suckers. I think it is shorter than goldfinger but we shall see with the ratoon crop.

Jon's were truly massive (~9-10 ft of pstem but they were extremely fat), and the pup he gave me is very thick and healthy. I did some research, and the fruit are supposed to be like Manzano, which is good because I was looking for a Manzano type. As far as growth grows I'll just have to wait and see how well it does during next season. I might try and get a hold of Greenie.

After doing some digging on the forums, I like what I see. I think this one's going to be a keeper. :woohoonaner:

… and the fruit are supposed to be like Manzano...
They aren't. Only in that they have some tartness are they similar.

As long as I like it, the people at the campus garden like it, and the families down at MEND who I will be donating plants to like it, we're all good. There are very few fruits that I dislike.
