I just noticed my red banana bunch has produced a second set of female flowers after months of male flowers. The second set of fruit are smaller but it seem pretty unique. Has anybody seen this before? Is it cultivar?

Interesting - new to me. Maybe save the pups in case it is a sport.

Good idea. It is my healthiest red. Probably an 18" diameter "trunk"

Give the second set a chance. They may catch up to the other in size.

The banana plant is not a tree but a perennial giant herb. It is an Peduncle; Bunch; Rachis; Male bud Secondary and tertiary roots originate from the primary roots. In some cultivars, the male bud ceases to grow after the fruits have set and can be more or less exhausted by the time the bunch reaches
