rules: how to claim your state add up species of bananas and the extra(duplicates) of bananas you have and post it if you have the most your king of the hill for your state! once pups are repotted then you can count them
species count as 3 points ...........extra bananas counts as 1
so I have 16 different species and 14 extra that are the same
16x3 =48+the 14 extra= 62
so I claim Idaho at 62 points! now if someone has more species they can pass you up pretty quick but that's what makes a good collection! good luck hope every one has fun participating don't forget to add your points
now if you cant be king of your state don't worry you can claim 3 more spots
1 KING
2 DUKE
3 BISHOP
4 PAWN

35 cultivars in 58 mats here in Hawaii. Some mats are 1 pseudo stem, while others have several. This is in maybe 2000 sq ft of space. 27 flowering at the moment of 12 cultivars. Generally 20+ at any given time.

This really could be a fun thread. In the geocaching world I'm the King of Camelot, so king of the banana world would also be cool.

Ok for PA. We have 7 good sized mats dormant outside, 3 diff cultivars and had 1 flower so that = 10.
inside 6 different other cults plus 16 more repeats of species matured enough to be in their own pots. 10+18+16=47 in PA.

:nanerwaveytrain::nanerwaveytrain::08::ropingnaner:I do not even try counting, because I already know that Pitangadiego is the "King of the Hill" in our region.
There are seven different varieties in my yard, cannot count the number of pups, but have 4 fruiting plants at the moment. But who cares about how many plants I have. As long as someone can count each and every Musa plant, he/she cannot be the "King of the Hill", because the REAL kings cannot even count their plants:nanerwaveytrain::ropingnaner:

Haha!
I give it to pitangadiego without counting, not just because I am a lazy "couch potato" , because I have already started to winterize my plants with frost cloth.
Does a guess count? My guess estimate is 50 plants....

How many thousands of plants does Nick have right now? He's got some serious banana forestry going on down there.
Some of us feel great
About winning our state,
But no one scores mas

I decreased my holdings back in 2012 when I started my PhD. I am down to a mere 600+ plants. I used to have over 2000. Watch out world when I finish my PhD. I don't do much wholesale anymore, and I do a lot more nursery than I used to. I've got 34 varieties, I will round it out to 40 sooner or later.

I have no idea how many now... not including all my
basjoo which are outside (probably 15-20 additional
plants). The "empty" pots are corms, hope to keep
a good portion of these alive overwinter in the garage...
I plant to create a plastic tent with dropcloth over
the wire cage, and put an oil heater on low inside
when it gets too cold.
