I lay claim to 28 different varieties, and 31 containers with musa and ensete. I also have bird of paradise, heliconia, cannas, and gingers in the related category. I would have more if some of the seeds I tried to sprout would happen, but you know how that is.

Did you mean species or cultivars?
Regardless, Pitangadiego (http://www.bananas.org/member-pitangadiego.html) has us all beat, and then he'll probably tell us his collection is minor in comparison to his buddy in Ventura county ...
I have 5 types only; I'll probably end up with another 5 or 6 but, after my fig collecting manic days, I'm done competing for titles.

I'm currently at 20 cultivars here in Kansas, probably 50-80 p-stems if I count only solitary plants and pups over 3'.
Little Prince
Truly Tiny
SDC
DC
Double* [suspicious that it might be a Dwarf Namwah]
Grand Nain
Williams Hybrid
Highgate
Cocos
Gros Michel
Dwarf Red
Dwarf Orinoco
California Gold
Dwarf Brazilian
Dwarf Namwah
Fake Ice Cream (a tallish Namwah)
Kluay Kai/Glui Kai (http://www.bananas.org/f12/what-glui-kai-7120.html) (or some such spelling)
Raja Puri
Pisang Ceylon
SH-3640
DC, Williams Hybrid, and Double* are currently fruiting. Most of the others will probably start producing fruit next year.

I am the only one growing bananas in my basement, therefore I win in my very localized region.

Actually most of my bananas are currently growing in my basement. I only have about 6 plants upstairs, including two 8 ft ones that wouldn't fit in the basement.

I only have one kind 12 plants out side but am looking for more Seattle, WA.
Great job everyone, but how many bunches of bananas are on the plants.
I have 4 bunches of Namva's 1 bunch is in a container. I have 5 bunches of Ice-Cream, and 7 bunches of Dwarf Cavendish and unknown tall banana plant.
I hope California stays warm a few more months. :goteam: 16 bunches of bananas
