Just found out what is making the big piles of dirt along the lawn bordering the driveway.

Holy crapola --- look at this thing. Two inches long. Mole Cricket. Saw a pic of them canned in hot sauce.

I was sure there was a palmetto bug in my bathroom until I turned on the potty room light and saw it was Jack who had hitchhiked in on my inbound plants. Since nobody saw it, I'll post the edited shot again. (This was a total aim in the dark no idea if it I'd get a picture with flash but somehow I did.)

It's a Misi Namwah. It got down to nearly 25 last night. It certainly looks sad and ugly, but I doubt that a cold snap like this will kill it off.

Depends on duration and humidity. Should have covered the pups. That's next years fruit crop. I had to deal with this in '09 and '10.

Learned the hard way that if the mama is too near fruiting it won't make enough leaves to support a decent crop.

The pups on the Misi also seem to be okay, and the mother plant is probably about halfway to fruiting. One out of the three pups on my Blue Java appears to be dead. I piled some mulch around the base to insulate the meristems.

I always was suspicious of the spelling of the word raspberry. Its original spelling was probably rassberry as hinted in the following food additive warning.

6. Castoreum:

Castoreum comes out of a beaver’s behind – it’s extracted from their anal glands — and is used to make artificial raspberry flavoring. Try not to think about that next time you order the diet raspberry tea.

Found in: Artificially raspberry flavored products such as cheap ice cream, Jell-O, candy, fruit flavored drinks, teas and yogurts.

I'm all for eating a beaver (I know doesn't sound good).. lol but they have the finest, tender meat (has to be marinated to get the wood pulp taste out).. just hold the bung-hole or its juice.. :^)

When my car would not start this morning and the reality hit home that I had to push start and pop the clutch and start it at least once and get it started the first time all on my own to get a new battery before I could start on my list of "TO DO" stuff...like I hadn't procrastinated enough as it was. I'm 4'10" pushing my car down the street what a site that must have been but it happened...but not without panick and a good pair of work boots for asphalt grab.
The fear and panick probably didn't hurt any in the torque department

A dream that I smelled something burning and rode down the street to see a new volcanic vent had opened up a couple neighborhoods over and was shooting lava hundreds of feet into the air.

Woke up to find it's still just slowly oozing 10 miles away as usual. Such is life on the slopes of the world's most active volcano. I have anxiety dreams about lava. When I lived in northern CA, they were always about earthquakes.

Here in south FL the snow birds are scaring the crap out of everybody, including themselves. :11:

Taking it easy and taking in the sights while driving around at half the posted speed limit. Traffic accidents are all over the place. Only the interstates seem to be unaffected - for the most part.

They(me) are lost for days....

jeebus!!!They have them everywhere I've lived except where I am in FL. I did find a 4 way with 2 yellows and 2 reds last week. It seemed to confuse people even the ones who were from the area. Me? After watching 10 minutes for a break, I took a chance that nobody would intentionally hit a rusty OH truck; I was at a red. I pretended I was European and made my way across the intersection. It seemed to surprise the other participants who stopped and watched my boldness; I escaped without any damage to my vehicle. Or theirs. ;)
