Greetings Everyone!
We moved into a house almost 2 years ago (Jacksonville, FL) and the previous owner had a couple of banana plants in the garden. They told me to just cut them back every year. I did that the first winter but let them grow this past year. They held up to the NE Florida cold and now I have one that is bearing fruit and another that may be on the way. I have no idea what kind of banana it is though. Hopefully it is edible. The stalk is almost 6ft tall and 8in in diameter at the widest point. Any help identifying them and tips for taking care of them would be greatly appreciated. My yard backs up to a semi-marshy area and they seem to thrive. I have propagated many pups and now have a row of them along a fence line in the yard. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if any other pictures may be of use to help identify.
