Hello :)

Upon my last visit to Pyrgos,I found my Njalipoovan with 2 leafs that seem to have been damaged by leaf fungus and/or deficiency. Here are a few photos of them:

Everything gets morning dew which stayed on for many many hours at the extra shady location they were growing, but only this variety got leaf problems from it. What kind of leaf fungus do you think the one in the first photo is and what kind of leaf fungus or deficiency are we seeing at the second and 3rd photo?

Thank you very much in advance! :)

If they are growing in pots it's probably a deficiency, I'm not sure what though.

Thank you James! They do are potted but only this particular variety got that. I agree that these leafs are probably showing some deficiency symptoms as well but I think the leaf in the first photo especially, almost definitely looks like having leaf fungus along with any deficiency it might have.

Thanks Tony! What kind of leaf fungus is it? I am used to getting Cordana leaf spot on some of my plants during our rainy winters but this seems different.

Thank you very much in advance! :)

Just saw your pics and they look a lot like mine.
My Dc Sdc Namwahs and Bordelons all exhibit this look.
I thought it was just the oldest leaves finally reaching their end of life.
I know as the leaf ages it loses it's water repellency and this will speed up degradation, mold and so on.
For me it is the oldest bottom leaf on the p stem.
Also this only happens at the end of my growing season
It is never a new leaf but always the oldest leaves on the plant.
If it were the new leaves I would be concerned but this normal for me.
I can post pics in am if you wish.

Here are a few photos taken this morning
These are my daily leaves which I trim from the bottom of the plants as they decline in their dormant state. The leaves go from green to yellow to mottled in a day or so, they are always the bottom most leaves.
Five varieties are shown.
Edit: The fruit does the same thing......hmmm.

Note that some leaves are cut in half......I do this because the plant does not need the other half while dormant and I may pack them closer together in the darkened room.

Thanks Mike :)

What your bananas get is the same with what my young ones get in Melissia, once dew starts forming on their leafs almost every night. The black spotting is somewhat similar but I think the causal agent may be different to the one in my pictures as this one is cleanly spotted with no water soaked areas like yours and my young bananas get. Shannon suggested it may be Freckle which is caused by a few different fungal species, and it does seem quite like it,though I can't be sure. I will check the leaf for the sandpaper feel described in literature next time i am Pyrgos.

Any and all ideas on what this is,are very much welcome! I want to link this to a name, not just know its fungal :)

Thank you very much in advance!

Thanks Tony but this doesn't seem like Fusarium. I have not imported any new bananas to Pyrgos for a couple years now and I have 2 healthy Gross Michel growing in Melissia,so it shouldn't be Fusarium :)

This is just a leaf fungus but it looks like one of the tropical kinds and thus I am interested in IDing it. Shouldn't me much of a problem in my climate but it's better to know what it is!

Cincinnana, I am just north of you (100+ miles) and my plants do the same thing every fall. Once the temperature drops to around 50 degrees at night I start seeing little little brown freckle type dots on the leaves. Then yellowing and eventually a browning. It always seems to affect the older lower leafs first. New cigar leaves are fine, and the new growth never has any issues. I always assume it is just some sort of cold burn.
