I'm not a very observant person but neither they nor yours seem to busting out of their skins. Though a picture may be worth a thousand words, a personal squeeze and assessment wins over prose and poses hands down. Picking one to test and perhaps savor? Score.

You eat a banana in the store to see if its worth getting? :^)

You eat a banana in the store to see if its worth getting? :^)No, the "taste a grape police" would be all over that. I am not a fan of ripe bananas. There, I've admitted that I like firm, green skinned fingers. I also love all other fruit under-ripe (green tomatoes only if fried perfectly) so shoot me. I'm quite certain that's why persimmons have passed these lips but once--immature ones pack a real pucker.

The fingers look as filled in as they are going to get. The marks on the skins say cut me down now. I stopped waiting till yellowing starts when I saw the squirrels licking their chops and rubbing their paws.

Michael,

As I was checking mine today I saw the brown marks on the most mature hand so mine may similiarly be close to "stretch marks" I'll keep and eye on them. By the way it was the Orinoco mat with five fruiting P-stems, the one near the back of the Citrus grove.

However; as I stated in another post, I didn't factor in the fact that you were going to try and ripen them in a Pink Room lol

I'd add 7 days according to my new pink room added calculation:}

Not an expert at all but they look like the platano burro/orinoco I have grown and eaten in California and from others growing it out here.

Did you have some already, how were they?

I don't know about that.. all I know is they both have 3 sides, but no Burro I've had tasted as good as the one's I grew, and they didn't get soft & squishy like Orinoco's get when they are fully ripe. Mine are 3inches shorter if not more.. :^)

For supermkt fruit like musa the best way to get no over ripe/rotten fingers with minimum bruises is to select the greenest ones. And break off fingers from the middle inside row of fingers on the hands.

Ripen at home at room temp. Eat when full yellow - -don't wait longer.

These bad boys were absolutely delicious, which a far cry from how a Burro tastes believe it or not.. These are as good or better than Manzano.. don't get soft or give you the gag reflex like burro may.. I should've taken a pic of when they got ripe.. :^)

I'm still waiting on my orinoco bunch to get ripe.. The one's pictured below are from Steve I picked up in July 2012. I don't know if its a suppose to be Ice Cream or something he picked up from a friend. I do know the stem's get 15' @ Steve's.. I had one fruit in Aug of 2012 that high winds knocked the flower off, since it didn't have much leaf support.
