Who is growing them in the south east US or heck anywhere in the US?

Any advice would truly be appreciated.

I was kindly given some seeds and they are sprouting and growing beautifully will need to repot soon and advice to not execute them would be great...

Or if you got them in the ground how do they take the cold temperatures?

Thanks in advance

The good news is they grow like weeds. Well drained soil is best , dont try to feed them to much, as they thrive in poor soil. Just Don't let them dry out when they are small, after that they dont require much. Bad news is they are a tropical plant. Anything under 32 and they are toast. Most people down here treat them like a perennial, cut them back and grow them like a shrub, keeps them from getting tall . Mine grew 15' tall in one year and I have a few seed pods. Add the leaves to salads and smoothies, they have a funny flavor but not bad.

Keep us posted on your success/failures with these little guys.

I am VERY interested in growing this plant myself too and anxious to see what your experience is like.

They grow quickly here, especially if you feed them a tropical plant food. They defoliate if temperatures drop below 40F (4.4 C) and also they seem to attract the local snails.

I have a few growing. One broke out the bottom of its large pot. I need to put them in the ground because they are looking bad because their roots are too crowded now lol. I started mine from seed from Echo seeds.

I have these 4 here about 5 weeks and two more at a friends house that are larger.. WAMMO these things grow like weeds! They taste OK, a little funny but nothing ya cant swallow. One of the girls in my circle here dries the leaves and puts them in a blender to powder them then she puts them into capsules..
But they dont like cold at all and seem to grow well any where you plant them as long as they get sun and some water . People here that grow them all seem to be doing them in large pots, 15 gallon pots.
You see my tree collards :ha: them things are darn good eating if you like greens. just behind them is my Double Mahoi I got another bunch one still on the plant.. Yes Im bragging!

If I were in Florida like some folks I'd have a plantation of these:}

As you can see I even have a praying Angel next to it to help keep it going...
