Hello-
Thank you for permitting me to join your web-site. I have been involved in the banana industry for my entire life
I was born in Puerto Castilla, Honduras and lived my first 18 years as a member of the Chiquita Banana family in the American tropics. When my dad retired (also a banana man). he was the Superintendent of Agriculture for United Fruit in Sevilla, Colombia. He started with UF Co. in the 1920s, working in Honduras, Panama, Guatemala and Colombia cultivating and shipping bananas to the US and Europe til the 1960s.
I also worked in Honduras, Panama and Colombia for 2 years before joining IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY. It was a great life, and I enjoyed it to the maximum. Now I am retired in Florida and enjoy UFCo reunions, wherever they are held. Please eat more bananas!!
