Congrats! Sounds about right for DB. Mine started blooming right around that height. Now the mat has matured and my latest bloom is about 8 - 9 feet.

I had the same experience as Momoese -- these were pretty short the first time they flowered for me, only 6'. The follower pups are already 7.5 and 8' and no flowers yet.
The second p-stem on a mat ("first ratoon") is usually taller than the first p-stem for all varieties, but Dwarf Brazilian seems especially flexible in its height.

I'm dying to see how you wrap that one up for the "cold" weather; I have a couple of Yankee coats I haven't tossed yet that would make her sweat bullets at -10F. ;)

BTW, go take a look at the 2nd picture I posted of that 2nd pup wannabee. I'm going to let it be (though removed spent leaves that seem to collect water which might encourage rot on all I brought home) but this noob is totally confuzzled.

The female flowers on my DBs tend to have no reddish, so they look different than mine.

Rob, I think that's a climate thing. Mine do have red/pink and are definitely DB. Keppler and Rust claim that female flower color distinguishes DB from Rajapuri, with Rajapuri having red/pink female flowers and DB not having that color. That may be true in Hawaii, but not here where it is cooler, where they both have colorful female flowers.
DB in Ventura:

124 finger on 9 hands (not counting male fingers).. Is that good for a DB or just average?

If this is the first time this plant has flowered for you, that is quite good. At least by the standards of how they do in my neighborhood.

Michael,
I know other posters have different results.....
BUT
You better have a plan to keep at least six leaves green and happy or I don't think they'll survive.
I feel your pain. This morning one of my Goldfingers (or whatever it is) sent up a half leaf and flag. If I am crazy enough (it's flagging at five foot) I could dig it all up, pot it in a 45 gallon pot and put it in my living room.
Also the bunch on my tall Tall Namwah on the front of the house is completely yellow. Will take the P-stem tomorrow!
Good Luck!!!!
