I planted 3 banana plants around the pool. Later on in summer I added 8 inches of tree chippings to weeds and I think when the baby bananas grew through the chips they caught a fungus. I live in zone 7a in southern jersey. I have to dig them up soon for winter. I was wondering if this will go away with a fungicide spray or do I have to get rid of the plants? I planted 1 in another flower bed and it is green and fine so I think it was the chips. Also can anyone Identify the type of banana plant and if it will produce bananas? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks- Chris

I think the problem is your pool water, chlorine maybe. A couple years back I flushed pool water into my banana mates and got exactly the same as in your pic.The bananas eventually grew out of it. I think you need to rake up all the mulch for tarterss
