Way cool!

How long have you had it? Any harvested fruit yet? Easy to raise?

Thanks

I picked it up this spring. I've fed it once and it stays secluded since its so hot here. I let the rain water it for the most part. I'm going to up pot it in the spring to a 25 gal setting it high in the pot.

A lil Bounty off the tree right here.. :^)What tree right here? And what's in the baggy? I assume there are seeds...

BTW, wonderful citrus. How old are your plants? Or maybe the better question is how long have they been in the ground? And what size pot did they start out in? Is their 1st time? (Besides the lemon.)

They are Olives off an Arbequina tree (3).. I have a Lucca Olive too, but its in recovery, should have some bounty off it next year. I purchased all these plants this year minus the Hamlin Orange that I picked up last year, but I did pick up 3 more this year. :^)

Where did you find trees? And how do they taste? Size of pots in which they arrived? (Gallons works for me.)

I picked them up from LEX Nursery in Shreveport. I believe they were in one gallon pots. I purchased all they had. If I wouldn't found them I would've drove to a grower in Houston and got them on the cheap. When I got them..

You inspired me to look for olive trees again. There's a little place in GA that sells premium olive oil and also sells 15" to 24" Arbequina, Arbosana and Koroneiki trees for $10 each shipping included. You have to order 5 or more. They'd take another season to produce I'm sure but it's the best price I've found so far.

That seems like a decent deal.. I'm sure they are small, but I'm sure they can more than double in size in a growing season. I like Olives since they have nice foliage, and Olives are the bonus plan.. :^)

Next go around it has be edible for me...except for the 3 lantern hibiscus languishing at a going out of biz nursery and Echinops and cirsium japonicum and probably a few others...if they'll grow here...

No birds where I am. Mainly tree frogs, lizards, toads and flies. And ants that bite really hard, bugs that eat plants you put in dirt--potted ones are safe, mosquitoes (don't bother me) and numerous tree rats. Sometimes I think I moved to 3 Mile Island only more temperate. (BTW, people in other places dine on your selections.)

Someone tried to tell me they're fire ants; they aren't. Tiny little buggers that bit hard and leave huge itchy/wounds/bumps. The itch takes days to go away. It's not like I'm bothering them; you just have to walk near their nest and they attack. DE doesn't work; Sevin only slows them down. I've heard grits control them; I'm nearly ready to share. Not quite.

Heck, I make my own beer--I'm cheap. (Well, haven't lately but have a farming bud in KS ready to ship me a bushel of red winter wheat to play with when I'm ready. To malt or cereal--that is the question.)

Hi Kat:

We have them here too and call them fire ants. I accidentally sat down on a hill at night and never moved so fast in my life.

The one thing that I have found that works for sure is to pour kerosene or gasoline on the mound. I know it's anti-environmental, but hey, sue me. They will be gone the next day.

You should have mentioned that when you were here you could have had the whole cactus in the corner of my Citrus. It's edible and taste good but you better wear gloves as it has an indelible vibrant purple staining juice. Kinda reminds on the jungle natives and betel juice.

Drinking beer ain't bad either! We should have had one Friday night. I didn't even think of it!
