It takes a while for a T/C to come into its own.. If it were a pup characteristics are more visible. :^)

Goldfingers will vary depending on conditions.. on how much red they have based on soil conditions and how much they are fed. Mom in this pic is fed well and not well will have less red in the stem.. The red rim around the leaf and petiole wing, but many other plants have this being many FHIA types.. I haven't looked that closely at my other types.. :^)

Hello Jose263,
Congratulations on getting a flower! Looks like a very healthy mat! What height did your Goldfinger flower? Also, how long did it take to flower? Thanks!

Andy - this is the second season for the flowering pstem - It was almost 5 ft when winterized the mat last year with awire cage and leaves, and wrapped in plastic. Winter was so mild that was a waste of time and I unwrapped, and got caught by a late frost that fried the new leaves and delayed growth.
looks like it takes most of two seasons to produce zone 9a - flowering pstem is about 8-9 ft - i have another tall pstem in the mat that will probably get caught by winter.
Thanks to bananamal and abnsherk I've bumped up my feeding plan and it seems to be working - maybe i'll get fruit earlier next season.

Can you post pictures of the bud once it is putting out male flowers. I'm curious to see if it has that unique goldfinger fat at the shoulders heart shape.

I'm curious if mine is a GF - got it as a pup from a member - This is my 1st GF bloom I'm sure it isn't an orinoco or namwah -

It's definitely not a nawmah, the petioles are too open. The male bud doesn't look like pictures of other goldfingers and it's looking like the rachis is messy, while pictures of true goldfingers show a clean rachis below the fruit.

:drum::drum::drum: When do you think it will be possible to id what it is for sure?

I am certainly no ID expert, just going by what I've read in a couple books and online. You could also take some pictures of the removed male flowers. Sometimes it comes down to the fruit filling out or possibly being ripe unless someone else on here is pretty certain what it is. I have a "pisang raja" a month past this stage and still not certain what it is.
