Default Question with potting up no hardies.

Was just curious what others do. I have some non hardy I will be putting in my greenhouse. Does anyone ever trim up the roots? I dont and keep the old dirt attached and just trim off leaves that are needed.

If I find a naner rootbound I use a serrated knife and cut off the bottom of the ball like a big pancake. Loosen up the roots and repot in a larger pot. I also sprinkle myco dust on the wetted roots just before.

I thought about asking you this in a pm too. I have Gros Micheal, pitogo and few others I don't want to test and see if they survive here. Cavendish survives her just fine covered. Maybe once they have bigger pups I will. What I have done in the past is dig and place in pots as is.

I do not root prune....I leave as is...in pots.
That way the roots do not have to regrow as you overwinter them in your greenhouse.
I will trim the leaves to half size because of space considerations in the basement.
The plants get by just fine for my situation.

I do this in the spring with many of my bananas and tropicals also.
It really causes them to kick start the season.
Some plants react positively to a good root prune.......and the myco.....BAM !!
