She put me up for a month while I was trying to figure out where to "land". I cooked and cleaned but I owe her a lot. Every time I shopped, I bought bananas which she devoured quickly--I never saw her eat any other fruit.

So I would like to send her a plant or 2/3 in the spring. (If by any chance my plant produces, she's getting the majority shipped to her.) Her zip is 30248 which, depending on what zone service you use, is either 7b or 8a. Her home is surrounded by large trees but not in a micro-climate to my knowledge; she doesn't garden now but has so is by no means a newbie. (She raises chickens so has fertilizer on hand.)

I doubt she's ever tasted anything but supermarket fingers so at least 1 should be capable of producing something "known". If I truly have a Dwarf Cavendish and it ever gets more than 1 pup or I can find another locally and it could survive there OUTSIDE with some wrapping, DC would probably be her choice. I'm not discounting that she might choose to grow in containers; she has a burly man in her life who could lug them into her south facing den but it would be nice if she could plant them permanently.

If my idea is doable then my goal is to order soon and grow them here for now. I think if I hurry I can have them settled in by winter and if not I'll find a way to take them inside then get them going before sending off to her.

I'm planning to pick up a 1000 Fingers for me; would that work for her? Suggestions or is this like trying to grow a MD eastern shore fig outside in Akron and expecting her to flower? (Actually she did...)

As far I know Dwarf Orinoco is the most cold hardy edible.DC would not be a good choice in that zone

Anyone else have suggestions?
