Hi there I'm new to the banana community. Today I noticed to my chagrin that my red banana tree was leaning, only to discover gophers ate the roots. I put in water. Is there any wway that I can save it? Thanks for any information anyone can offer.

if its real bad..corm it an start over..dig it up cut trunk, trim off bad roots and replant..or if its not to bad just leave it and it might send up a pup..if its just leaning and only small portion of the roots are damaged, you should be ok..just make sure there are not open spots..if there are treat with some cinnamon to ward off any fungus..maybe pile on a good compost pile..and get rid of that !@#$ gopher..or find him a girlfriend to keep his mind off the bananas

Just leave it, it will grow back. As long as they didn't eat up the whole corm and there are some buds left on it, it will grow back.

I say load up the Miracle Grow feeder w/ Cayenne Pepper hose it down, and see if it comes back.. I doubt it, but it could be a Cajun Gopher.. yah know.. :^)
