View Full Version : To Trim or Not To Trim Broken Frond

This banana plant took a beating yesterday in a rain storm. As you can see, two of the fronds were broken. I cut off one that was left hanging by a thread or two. You can see the bent over second frond here. Should I cut this frond off (to relieve pressure from the rest of the pseudo stem) or leave it on for some other reason? Thanks in advance!

If its still green and doesn't block growth I'd leave it in place.. :^)

I've had some of these and wondered the same. I just left the one on my mysore and it remained green for months. So just leave it. As long as it is green, it will photosynthesize and contribute to the growth of your plant.

Never remove anything that is green. Green is always good. Period.

Yeah, as others have said, leave it on if it's still green. When it's brown/dead, you may remove it. Oh, and it's a leaf, not a frond. Palms have fronds.
