Hello everybody

here I am again, referring to my previous post (http://www.bananas.org/f310/banana-leaves-yellowing-dying-18067.html). The spidermites seem to have gone. I now still have 10 pups left (10 to 30 cm in height), all growing really nice!

It's still the mother plant I am worried about. On the pictures in my gallery you will see the plant lost all of its leaves over the last year. About two months ago the last leaf was dead and from then on I always had to cut away the rotten stuff, but again on the pictures you can see where it got me : I only have the root which is black and moisty everywhere. Strangest thing is that the plant still had another pup one month ago so I supposed the root wasn't dead. Now that piece has looked the same for 3 whole weeks.

I would like to hear you experts to know what I should/could do to get the motherplant start growing again.

Thanks for any help!

Grts Tom

Hi Tom:

I've been growing for 3 years, so I do not claim to be an expert by any means. However, if the corm (root ball) is still firm and not a big ball of mush it's probably okay. If you got a pup off it a month ago things may not be so bad. Give it time, they are pretty hard to kill.

Additionally, since it's the mother, if it bloomed, depending on the variety, it will die. I've not read of a variety that continues to live after it blooms. (I could be wrong).
