I have what is suppose to be a BLue Java Ice Cream(in a container) that is now getting quite large now about 7'6" of pseudostem and 13' to the top of the tallest leaf. I forgot to add its container is 24" tall. I will bring it into my sunroom which is about 9'. I was just wondering if it gets much taller and I have to cut into the pseudostem to bring it in what are my chances of damaging the flower if it is getting ready to emerge. I have had this plant for 2 years now. Thanks in advance.

My blue java always blooms late in the season I had 5 bunches this year. They are in the ground though. Last few years have been warm winters so I had bananas as soon as the weather warmed up... I would hesitate at topping mine in the next few months.. It's just a crap shoot. It might be in there. Mine always seems to bloom in fall too. I wonder how it would work if you cut it back now, instead of waiting. The bloom might be further down low. Also mine here seem to take 3-4 years, not 2 but maybe u live in a warmer place which would shorten the blooming time. Whenever u cut it back, do an autopsy on the stem u cut off and see if the bloom is in there. Then u will know for sure.
