Hi all!

Newbie here. I'm confused by what my tree is doing. This is my first banana tree, and obviously my first fruiting experience. Everything seemed to be going fine to start and I have a couple of decent hands, but now every hand just falls off immediately.

Am I doing something wrong? This doesn't seem normal. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you get some bad weather you don't want your banana's bouncing off the house.. Other than that your good.. The one's falling off are the male finger's and never would've been banana's in the 1st place. :^)

Agree. Looks like Orinoco.

I was also a little freaked out when my very first banana tree produced a few good hands and then the subsequent flowers just started dropping off. I was relieved to learn (from the local cooperative extension -- I hadn't yet discovered this forum) that these were just male flowers. Hummingbirds seem to like them, but to the best of my knowledge they aren't good for anything else. Enjoy your first fruit!
