I have acquired earlier this year an Ensete Maurelli and frequently checked for pups.

Now I read in an article that Ensetes do not pup. So how do they propagate?
Thanks,
Olaf
Seed only in this case. Some cut the stem to ground level and force offsets. But this is a bit drastic. Once my Ensete ventricosum has produced seed I'm going to try the decapitation method on one of the seedlings for an experiment.

I guess, that leaves me out of raising ensetes. Here in HZ6 I will never get any fruit and chopping
up the corm (do they have any? I have never seen mine 'barefoot'), will also not work, if they do
not produce any pups.

Maurellis are tissue cultured, but you can make them pup by destroying the growing point. There is an old thread relating to this somewhere.
Is this site news?

Thanks James and Tony, I just found that site and it will give me something to work through,
since I have also a wintering problem in HZ6
I accidentally removed the 'Thanks' to James, then reopened the same thread anew through the
email before I closed the one with the removed 'Thanks' and reinstated it. I hope it stays now. :)
