By the way NC weather has been very promising the past couple of months, Winter is coming! :2623:
Taste Report coming soon. . . hmm well, maybe it might be awhile, it's August pffff. Wish Me luck and I WILL Do my Best to make Sure these Survive Winter and into Spring. Hints/Kudos/Suggestions/Questions are welcome. I will have HD Pictures before they start flowering. . uhhh . . what did I forget to say....?

What? Duh! I will plant all 7 Different Naners and 7 Different Ears ALLLL around my sun-room and in-between those square bricks! It should be easy to take care of and maintain itself kinda sorta. Well, that's what I'm thinkin. I have owned a garden since I was in diapers so this should be child's play and fun, I like mud. Nanas are yummy and watering is easy.

In other words you're telling me I should contact Wellspring Garden and tell them an EXpert told me it's a Namwah, and they should replace it?; Or is it Exhibiting Namwah Qualities :)

No Ice-Cream from Wellspring nor Florida hill are Namwahs, in fact real Ice-Creams are pretty hard to find in the continental US. That's what he's saying :) Good luck on the collection though, love seeing more people from non-tropical areas growing bananas. I've got some bananas from both Wellspring and Florida Hill, and, I'm definitely not counting on the plants being all exactly as labeled, but, whatever they are I'll be happy. (though I will of course replace whatever I didn't get as claimed when the time comes)

Where in NC do you live? We live in wilmington a mile from Carolina Beach. I am able to winter Mysore,Saba, namwah, ice cream, tall an dwarf Orinoco,Cavendish,Siam Ruby, yellow, velutina, basjoo of course, black thai,VM,raja puri. Plants delight in Raleigh has others that I don't grow that survive way up there but they have to bundle there's up. Helen's hybrid and Siam ruby never have done too well as they don't like te heat. I second us having a bad spring and summer. Nowhere near as hot as normal and more rain then the past 15 years. The rest I grow I have never tested them and store in are greenhouse.

It's a real ice cream but not blue java. Right now it's at least 13ft high with several pups. Since are spring was so crappy I had to cut it back a few feet to wake it up. In your area just make sure you plant a week after the last frost date. This year I had two basjoo mats flower, dwarf Orinoco, velutina which always do.

got away with my Smallest Air compressor+ air-nailer, didN'T take paint gun or staple gun or hoses or even the nails to go with gun. Oh and they broke 1 frame out of our tool shed window. They managed to get away with a 10yo Troybilt tiller! Had to have a truck when they got me! I think who did this is in jail Now though, I did some research wif my crew if u-no-what-i-mean. I am 'right' now, and plan to stay that way.

Well... to be honest I'm not totally sure? I have only grown bananas for about 1 year now.
I have some more Manzano that are showing "wine stains".
From what I understand this is something normal to TC plants. They will grow out of, and has proven true so far.

Wow this thread blew my mind. Is there a trustworthy source for any banana plants? People may have ice cream but not really? I picked up a couple java ice creams from wellspring thinking they were a legit source now I'm hearing they are namwa. I would expect this from lowes or homedepot but from a place that deals with tropical a exclusively is mind blowing. I hope this is not true...

Well... to be honest I'm not totally sure either, but I've read some of the same explanations. Don't recall reading follow-up harvest posts proving if it's valid or not.
All I can say is that all of the tc I've grown that were supposed to have "wine stains" did have them, and the ones that were not supposed to have "wine stains" did not have them.
It kind of sucks that you have to wait 2 or 3 years to know if you were hoodwinked, but that's just part of the enjoyment of buying tissue cultures.
BTW, I've never seen "wine stains" on any of my Manzano.
I've got thousands of extra Manzano pups, if you want to be sure I'll send some fruit. :ha::ha::ha:
