Hello! I am a young agriculture hobbyist. I've never had a banana tree before but so far I've experimented growing Hylocereus undatus (Pitahaya or Dragon Fruit) from seed, avocado, mango, lilies, and sunflowers. Some success and some failures, but I will keep trying. I'm always going against the word impossible, things are only improbable. On that note I'll end with I am looking forward to meeting nice people who share their love of growing like I do.

We are familiar with the "naysayers", my husband is one of them. First it was you can't grow citrus here...zone 8b. I showed him with my Meyer lemonade stand! Then he said okay well you can't grow oranges and such. He found a local guy back in the woods with an orange grove. Now he believes. Then he said you can't grow apples here. To which I said ....Oh? Anna, Gala, Fugi, and Granny Smith are all low chill apples growing in our zone. So now I am trying pineapple guava, carob, and several other species of fruiting plants. I'll show him!
So to you I say..."Witam serdecznie" Welcome and GET YER GROW ON!:nanadrink:

Thanks for a good laugh! My wife said I couldn't grow avocado or mango. Haha! She didn't say anything more.

So I read you are an Ice Cream producer...that makes you my new best friend.
Banana split sundaes are a favorite memory for me!
My dad threatened us within an inch of our lives if we dripped ice cream in the back seat of is Porsche 912.
I was the only person I know of who ate the black licorice Ice Cream from our Baskin Robbins 31 flavors in Costa Mesa, California back in 1965. It remains my favorite flavor.
"Not everyone likes all our flavors, but each flavor is someone's favorite."

I must have had 4 birthday parties at Farrell's Ice Cream parlour. Yes I ordered and ate "the Trough". I wore the button proudly. It said "I made a pig of my self at Farrell's".
During High School, when I could eat anything I wanted and not gain weight, my snack when I got home was a huge bowl of ice cream - vanilla with a banana and some chocolate syrup.
Thank you for making Ice Cream, you rock!:goteam:

Welcome! I sure hope to hear more from you in this forum :) Just warning you ahead of time though, don't expect anything from seedling avocados. If you want to grow good avocados you can count on actually fruiting, get some grafted ones. There's online nurseries that sell great varieties too.
Also, awesome lpatelski! Your growing motivation sounds like mine. I'm in zone 8 but I try and grow what I can and educate other locals they can too. I do pineapple guavas, a huge never-ending expansion of citrus, figs, pomegranates, persimmons, olives, jujubes, raisin trees, chilean guavas, the works. I also do true tropicals as well but I keep them in a greenhouse as I know better than to push it too much. Our summers are much too cool and our winters, though technically zone 9 in good years, are still too bad for things like Canistel, Ice-Cream beans, Cinnamon, Miracle Fruit, etc.
