I've seen in videos that they taste better than cavendish. I'd like to try one myself and see.

I know they stopped being mass produced commercially in the 1930s due to the panama disease outbreak. Was just wondering if they have made a comeback.

I'm gonna say no. At least probably not, depending on where you are. Expect to see Gran Nain, plantains and MAYBE red bananas or 'baby bananas' (nino) in your supermarket.

Maybe in a few more years you will see them showing up as the plants become more available. Im in S Fla got all kinds of different stores here and i never see them..i personly have two plants. I expect as soon as people taste them the demand will increase. They are good. But ya never know about supply and demand...
They have a great aroma and the taste is stronger . To me each bite was good like the furst one..
My plants are over a year old. Lots of sunshine and rock dust so blooms can't be to far away.
Good luck on finding one...

I live in Springfield Il. I don't think we have any exotic fruit markets here.

You have apples there. The banana taste like apple so the apple could taste like a banana :woohoonaner:

I was thinking maybe it had the flavor of both.

So Gros Michel, do they taste like Cavendish but with a stronger flavor?

LilRaverBoi has the right idea about Asian markets, I have 5 varieties at my local Asian market. It might be worth asking the produce managers at some stores if there are some varieties his supplier has that he is not currently stocking.
Good luck

I have Cavendish here at my home I gave a pup to my friend who lives up the road . He is in a Condo where he planted his pup and it got only water from the condo association sprinklers. And he only put some coffee grounds on the plants a few times..
My Cavendish are pretty large and taste great.. His Cavendish were small and tasted Great also but the two were so different it’s not even funny.
But to answer your question for me Gros were more creamy like, and had a distinctive taste of their own and very aromatic. Most Cavendish are not as aromatic.. WOW taste comparisons very different to each persons likes and dislikes
