OK all you Fig Heads

This is the premere event in the Southeastern USA this month and probably next month and maybe the year.

LSU Fig field day..... - (http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/LSU-Fig-field-day.....-6409289)

If you are close and have any interest in figs you should not miss this opportunity. This is the real deal. Experts in all things Fig are hosting this event and everything from tasting various varieties to maintaing your fig orchard will be covered. You will actually be able to walk in the research groves and see how they prune the trees for optimal production. there will even be a chef to discuus the use of figs and food pairings.

Figs They're not just for Grandma to can anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope some of you can attend. The event is from 0800 - 1200 at the Burden Research Center in Baton Rouge. After the event some of us from the Figs4Fun forum are going to catch a bite, talk figs and socialize a little. Anyone wishing to join us is welcome.

Maybe next year Tony!

Hopefully some others can make. The LSU Purple is an awesome fig. I have the LSU Gold and hope to get cuttings for the purple soon.

Most of mine are too small to rob cuttings or I'm not sure on the identification. Next year I should have a good selection.

Available now are the LSU Gold and Celeste. The Celeste can trace it roots directly to Italy and is not a commercially propagated one.

Next year after Summer I may have Petit Negri, Ronde de Bordeaux, Conadria, Verdal Longue, Green Ischia, Sucrette, Texas BA-1 and a few others. They are just to small to cut now.
