Hi Snooki,
defintely an Ornata I brought one home in 2010 see here:
http://www.bananas.org/f2/i-think-i-scored-coup-13386-2.html
I had some trial and tribulations with it and so far have not been able to get it or one of its
descendants to bloom. At the time I thought I had really found something in a banana, which
was small enough to raise indoors, even in a small apartment.
Though I am jealous, I congratulate you.. :)
Best,
Olaf

Well thank you very much Olaf
I acquired this plant from a lady friend of mine in Baton Rouge La who has an entire back yard of these things. I dug a couple of little ones(pups) up from her back yard after a breakfast of fun and frolic and wrapped them up in a Albertson's plastic bag and threw it in the saddle bag of my motorcycle.
I later potted them and when winter arrived here in Lizard Creek I shuffled them in and out of my old pump shed to keep them going:}
I had often seen how they had bloomed before however; just decided that morning to dig some up thought it was an edible. Just figured they never got bigger because they were so thick and numerous in her yard.
I'll get a picture of how large the matt/bunch/jungle lol is in her yard if I get another breakfast offer:}
Here's a picture of the second one which I just planted about 2 weeks ago:}
Nothing yet lol
Peace B with U! Happy Independence Day
