yeah, maybe a hundred gallon one. But for the trouble of managing that here, might as well move to florida. Hey, now there's an idea...

what i meant was, wil it fruit in a smaller sized, maneagable container? what size would it need?

I believe dwarf plants would be the best bet

Here is a picture of mine that I just moved outside for the summer it was in my sun room with 10' ceilings. The pseudostem is 7' and I have had it for a little over a year now.

Blue Javas don't mind pots at all, as long as you have at least a 16'-20' ceiling.
If you have "only" 12', a Dwarf Orinoco might be a better choice. ;)

yeah, no thanks. besides, i can't deal with a 65 gal pot. i would have to move that monster...

Dwarf cavendish and red it is for me then!

I really hope that the mystery banana i have won't need a 65 gal container...

Hi banana13,
I'm growing an ice cream/blue java (pisang awak type) in a 30 gal smart pot. It's on its second growing season and is doing really well. I've wanted to repot to a 45 or 60 gal. pot, but the current pot is already huge. Awesome, beautiful plant that's a lot of fun to grow. If you've got the room for it and a dolly or hand truck to move it indoors come winter, it's definitely worth the effort. I haven't got fruit yet, but it's pushing 9 ft. of pseudostem height and is still going strong, so hopefully it'll flower by the end of summer. Dwarf cavendish and dwarf red are also great varieties. Best wishes and good luck!
Andy
