Hello :)
My 'Ice Cream' after winter produced one normal leaf with just tip burn from winter but the started producing strange and deformed looking leafs, both the main pseudostem and pup. The newest leafs now are a little better than the second and third ones of each pseudostem but I would like to ask you what it is and what caused/causes that. Here are the photos:
Main pseudostem newest leaf

Any ideas? Is it normal for bananas to produce such leafs after winter? Is it any virus/disease or mineral deficiency?
Thank you very much in advance! :)

Searching around,i found Boron deficiency being mentioned as causing such symptoms, whitish lines on the leafs or whitish, false variegation blotches on the leafs. Anyone else had similar problems before? Could it be a Boron deficiency? Could it be Banana Mosaic Virus?
Thank you very much in advance!

Pm venturabananas, I believe a year a go or so he had a boron issue on a naner plant, not sure if its the same leaf symptoms though, but he can give you more info if this is the same issue you're having. Hope this helps.

Doesn't look like boron deficiency to me. Looks more like a virus, but I've never heard of Pisang Awak varieties showing symptoms of banana streak. But plants do weird things after being stressed (e.g., going through winter).
I wouldn't panic. Treat it well, perhaps give it a foliar feed with a good micronutrient product, and see if it works itself out during these warm months. Good luck.

Sure hope it doesn't spread :waving:

Thank you very much for your replies and help! :)
Its not like any Boron deficiency i had seen either but just thought it might be another way of expressing a Boron deficiency just like there are different expressions of it with wavy and deformed leaf blade or missing parts of the leaf blade.
This is not like any BSV i have seen either. I have had it twice,on a 'Mysore' and a 'Chini Champa' and it was different. Plus, this banana is most probably a Namwah or another ABB variety and they cant get BSV. They can however get other banana viruses and so virus cant be ruled out on that alone unfortunately.
As you can see,the white patterns on my 'Ice Cream' is deformed tissue but not sick or dying one. This is the reason i am leaning towards a deficiency of some sort. Viruses tend to weaken and destroy the affected tissues eventually but the white lines are not yellowing or dying, they remain white and healthy.
Another strange thing my IC has done in the past is have its meristem die a couple of springs back after coming up from winter and producing 2 leafs,1 normal one and a weak and much smaller one that never fully emerged. That pseudostem eventually rotted from inside out after producing 2 pups. Both pups were quite slow. Gabe told me that was normal and a sign of water and nutrient deficiency. After increasing watering and fertilizing, they produced normal leafs and faster growth. This banana was normal looking before winter with all normal looking leafs. This is a plant i have had for many years and no other banana of mine produces leafs like these.I dont know if any of that helps much and surely hope we can figure out what it is. Hope its just a deficiency but you can never be too careful!!!
Thank you very much in advance! :)

I think I had something like that last year and my plants outgrown that without any assistance. They will do fine for sure.

Thanks Ante! :) Hope its just a deficiency and fixes on its own for good! New leafs are starting to push on both the main pseudostem and the pup so we shall see how it goes in a few days!

It does not look like BSV, and normally ABB bananas (or any banana with 2 or more M. balbisiana chromosome sets) do not show BSV symptoms.

Here's a photo Abnshrek added recently, not sure if it's in a post somewhere.
