I purchased some banana plants off of craigslist; the seller did not know what variety they were. I believe it is a dwarf of whatever variety it is. These images come from 3 different plants that have recently grown new leaves.

The ripples on the leave of that last pic is probably from a little too much fertilizer, nice plants!

The plant was recently transplanted bare root into the ground and that leaf was partially out when I got it. I didn't add any fertilizer, just stuck it right in the clay soil.

In case you are new to this - nanas like well drained, organic rich soil and mulching also helps-

I'm trying to learn like the rest of us, but the petioles look too open for it to be Orinoco...

These pictures probably are not the best example. The plants in these photos just received their leaves as they were transplanted. The petioles were fully closed until the new leaves came out.
The newest leaf on the fist/top picture has what the petiole should look like. It isn't the best photo, but you can see a new cigar leaf coming out of the petiole of the newest leaf in that photo.

Petioles look a little open for Orinoco, but not certain. Oops, you said they were originally closed. The stem looks like the right color.

And the underside of one of the leaves (it is not that red as it is in the picture):
