Hello. I received this Ae Ae plant on Monday. It spent a week in the mail before I received it and it does not appear to have done too well during transit. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to nurse it back to health? It seems like it is suffering from quite a bit of shock, so I am hopeful it will recover.

I have had it for four days and it does not seem like it has improved at all. I have had it in an area that receives indirect sunlight and have been trying not to give it too much water.

Any suggestions to help save my baby would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Brian,

It looks like it was in the dark for a couple of days...

In you pic I didn't see any sign of rotting at the basal pseudostem.

Was the corm intact?... not necrotic etc?

If she's intact, give her a little time, she'll probably come around. Travel's tough on a poor plant!

Don't over do the water and sun and you'll have a chance.

It should be fine, but like Julian say, do NOT overwater. Banana needs lots of water but right now that banana should be given a chance to almost dry out before you add water.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to update my post. I am excited to report that it looks like my Ae Ae is going to survive. The first leaf to emerge was all white on one side:

The white side quickly burned up, even in partial shade.

The second leaf was also all white on one side and the white side burned up quickly:

Finally the third leaf showed up, looking normal and healthy:

My plant seems to be recovering nicely and looks to be well on its way. I'm looking forward to getting it in the ground.
