Hello, you did very well, the plant will be OK already be seen in the picture that shows signs grow.
That happened to me with a banana http://www.bananas.org/f2/what-we-saved-today-bananas-17953.html.
Success in growing bananas.
Thank you! i was getting really worried.

Hi Naz,
you know, that it's going to make it. It is growing already, although it is likely to pause for a bit,
where it is now, but do not let that discourage you. It will pick up again.
I think, that you were a bit more radical than I would have been. I wish, two of mine were in as
good a shape as yours has been, but they will make it too.
Good luck,
Olaf

Honestly if ure talking about the black spot on the leaf, it doesn't really look like rot. But regardless its chopped now. Your soil looks very rich and I'm a little consered about drainage. Be very careful not to over water and the nanner has no leaves to use water, so the soil will stay wet and lead to root/corm rot which is much worse. I'm not sure where ure located but if its summer there now it might start growing faster if u put it outside in partial shade (but a warm bright spot). Once it leafs out I'd even opt to put it in the ground and get as much growth on it as possible and possibly protect it outside this winter, my basjoos never look that great indoors and they're pretty tough mothers outside

Yeah, Naz, the members of this forum are strewn all over this planet and it would yield you better
and more informative replies, if you would state your location in your profile or at least, which
hardiness zone you live in.

Hi Brady,
you may be interested in the kind of winter shelter I have devised this spring for next winter.
It is cheap (~$65 for three shelters, one for a whole pad and two for single PS), re-usable, both
each year as well as in spring, when fickle weather brings back unexpected frost, and certainly
more effective than any kind of mulching described in this forum.
See: http://www.bananas.org/f2/permanent-banana-shelter-winter-spring-17855.html
My original post stated the I live in Oregon

It should live as it looks healthy but it needs to pretty much almost dry out before you water again if it's inside without any leaves or it will rot.
yeah i keep wiping it because its spewing out liquid in the place i cut it and the brown is spreading
its progress...

You remind me of a mother with her first infant. :ha:
The brown is natural, just like in a cut apple and the sap means, that you have a functional life system. :)
Do you think the sap will cause rot?
Maybe next time post the pics & ask the questions before grabbing the machete, it might save you the trouble of chopping up a plant with little wrong with it. :bananas_b
^The stem started to rot next to the corm.
ive had the plant a little over a week and didnt want to see it die.

Ewwww that is some gross rot. It should be ok now though. I find rot is always worse inside, u really might want to consider outside as ure just gunna have to aclimatize the new leaves anyways and many will end up getting burned and setting u back again.
Yes olaf I've seen your posts on your removable protection. Its basically a larger prettier rose cone. What I like about it best is how easy it is to remove and replace at the last minute when u need it. Could have used one this spring that's for sure, had to chop my basjoo a couple of times bc of all the cold weather!
Update on the Basjoo.
